Live your Greek island dream at a five-star wellness resort in Elounda with a private Blue Flag beach - includes breakfast, dinner, one lunch, and more

  • Idyllic setting: Porto Elounda Golf & Spa Resort's idyllic setting on the northeastern coast of Crete places it in good company with some of the most exclusive hotels in Greece. With its private Blue Flag beach, wellness centre and views of the sea and the mountains, this five-star resort is centred around unrivalled rest and relaxation. Needless to say, it has previously snagged a Tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence.

  • Top-notch wellness and golf: Indulge at the Six Senses Spa, where an impressive collection of treatments and wellness programmes are available to fully pamper you into a zen state amidst top-notch facilities. Elsewhere, play like a pro on the undulating hills of the nine-hole par-3 golf course, used for the Aegean Mini Tournament. Beginners or those who want to tweak their technique can make use of the Golf Academy (fees apply).

  • Acclaimed dining: As well as the poolside delicacies, tempting Mediterranean dishes, abundant buffet breakfasts and tranquil taverna dinners at Porto Elounda, guests of the hotel can also enjoy the array of restaurants within the rest of the Elounda Collection hotels, from acclaimed Japanese flavours to world-renowned Italian dishes. A highlight is Insta-worthy Elies Beach House, set within a tranquil olive grove and offering delectable nutritionist-approved menus.

How to get there

The resort is located near the town of Elounda on Crete's northern coast. From Heraklion International Airport, it takes roughly an hour to drive to the resort. The port of Agios Nikolaos is a 15-minute drive away.

Good to know

Please note that some restaurants mentioned may be located at other hotels in the Elounda Collection, no more than a 10-minute walk away; a complimentary shuttle service is also available. Booking in advance is recommended.

Crete

Along this coastline you will of course find plenty of beautiful beaches to explore, but there’s a fair smattering of culture on this side of the island too. Just 15 minutes north of Porto Elounda, this coast is home to the charming little fishing village of Plaka. You can wander the old streets here before finding a taverna on the water’s edge where you can sip a glass of wine and enjoy views across to Spinalonga. For centuries, this famous island has been home to a fortress that once protected the port from attack, and in the 20th century it was home to a leper colony - making it the focus of several books and television series. You can catch a boat across to the island to explore the fortress and enjoy the magnificent views.

In the other direction, a 15-minute drive south of Porto Elounda, the larger city of Agios Nikolaos is well worth a visit. This coastal city is full of cute cafés and shopping opportunities, and also offers an archaeological museum for history buffs to enjoy. A little in land from Agios Nikolaos, the small village of Kritsa is one of the oldest on Crete. Tucked away on the hillside, Kritsa is home to a remarkable Byzantine church that houses incredible medieval frescoes, and is also the best place to start the scenic hike to Kritsa Gorge.
