  • Designer digs:Living up to its legendary name, cutting-edge design meets cosmopolitan comfort at The Hoxton, Lloyd Amsterdam. Housed in a sleek 1920s brick edifice, the hotel exudes an effortlessly cool blend of modern features and old-school chic, with swanky social spaces boasting plush velvet furnishings and magnificent wood panelling. Inviting guest rooms are a masterpiece of contemporary elegance, with refined retro touches for a cosy, quirky feel.

  • Classy comfort eats: Expect laid-back urban vibes at the airy Breman Brasserie, named after the building’s original architect and serving up a tantalising menu inspired by turn-of-the-century European and South American cuisine. Tuck into everything from hearty burgers to ceviches and indulgent oysters, and when the weather is fine, kick back over mouthwatering light bites on the terrace. Elsewhere, Barbue is your go-to for casual drinks in an atmospheric setting, with a carefully-crafted menu of European, Argentinian and Italian-inspired cocktails.

  • Live like a local: Your stylish base lies within Amsterdam’s Eastern Docklands, a vibrant district that was formerly one of the city’s trading and industrial hubs. Today, the area’s riverfront warehouses are home to a buzzing cultural scene, with hip eateries, designer boutiques, art galleries and modern architecture at every turn. Entirely surrounded by water and lined with pretty canals, the best way to get exploring is with a leisurely stroll or cycle - why not start by discovering the original Dutch windmill at your doorstep?
